Hello there, meet Renee Washington!
If you were to describe Renee Washington, the first thing that comes to mind would be the old saying ‘she’s a triple threat.’ But that would only be touching the surface of this multi-talented personality and it definitely would not do her justice.
Washington, who hails from Ewing, NJ, is a media personality, motivational speaker, model, and entrepreneur. She attended La Salle University where she became a 3x All-American D1 soccer player. Her prestigious career earned her a spot in the La Salle Hall of Fame, and to this day, she still holds a majority of school records.
During her time at La Salle, she helped lead her team to its first-ever conference tournament championship and an NCAA tournament appearance. She graduated in 3.5 years with two A-10 championships and three NCAA appearances. She is currently the second highest goal scorer and the third highest points holder in women's soccer program history for goals and assists. In 2014, she was nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year.
After graduating, Washington played professionally with SkyBlue FC (now Gotham FC) for a brief time before hanging up her cleats to pursue her master's degree and coach women's soccer at Lehigh University. While at Lehigh, she worked in the Sports Media department covering games and creating media content for the athletics department. It was there where Washington would begin to work on her craft. “I had ambitions to work in sports broadcasting and after playing sports, I had the opportunity to fully pursue it,” says Washington, “While working in the media department, I began writing, reporting, and making the transition into being a sports reporter.”
Since then, Washington’s career has taken off and she has had the opportunity to wear many hats in the broadcasting industry, whether it be digital, social or tv coverage. She has covered the NBA, MLB, WNBA, MLS, NFL, NLL, and college athletics.
She currently works with PHLY Sports hosting the Union, Phillies show, s well as other content. She is an analyst with MSG Networks and the NWSL on CBS Sports. Renee also works as a sideline reporter and analyst with ESPN covering men's and women's college athletics.
If her schedule isn’t busy enough, Washington recently founded Planted Not Buried. Renee created PnB as a way to build something that is far greater than herself with a global impact to help educate, inspire, and empower people of all backgrounds. It is an organization committed to providing an inclusive, safe space for all to network, learn, attend events, access resources, and pursue opportunities for growth.
She is also a motivational speaker and speaks to audiences across the country. She has also modeled part-time on runway, photoshoots, and commercials.
Renee Washington is definitely proving she is a force to be reckoned with. Although she has done quite a bit in her career already, she says, “there is so much more to do and accomplish.”
